Water chemistry settings

Choose which water-chemistry parameters technicians record, which are required, their order and default values — and add your own custom measurements like ORP or borates.

Control what technicians measure

The Water Chemistry page configures which water-chemistry parameters technicians see when testing a pool, which of them are required, the order they appear in, and a pre-filled default value for each. Whatever you set here flows straight to the mobile completion flow, where technicians record the readings on every visit (see Complete a visit).

Everything on this page auto-saves as you change it — there is no Save button.

Required and Optional fields

  • The page shows two cards: Required Fields — technicians must fill these in before completing a chemistry test — and Optional Fields.
  • Drag to reorder fields within a card; the order here is the order technicians see.
  • The toggle on each row flips a field between required and optional.
  • The number box on each row sets a pre-filled default value, so technicians start from a sensible number instead of zero.

Add a custom measurement

You can add your own measurements beyond the built-ins — for example ORP, borates, or ozone:

  1. 1On the Add a Measurement card, click Add custom field.
  2. 2Enter a Name (e.g. "ORP"), a Unit (e.g. "mV"), and a Step — how much the mobile +/- buttons change the value per tap, e.g. 0.5 for fine readings or 50 for larger ones. The number of decimals shown is derived from the step.
  3. 3Click Add. The new field appears as an Optional field tagged "Custom" (you can flip it to required with its toggle).

Custom measurements show up in the mobile completion flow just like built-ins, so technicians record them each visit, and the values are stored on the reading and shown alongside it.

Only the built-in parameters feed the LSI (Langelier Saturation Index) calculation. Custom values are recorded and displayed with the reading, but they do not change the LSI result.

Remove and restore fields

  • Click the on any row to remove a field from technicians' screens.
  • Removing a built-in field (pH, Salt, Bromine, etc.) hides it from technicians — it isn't gone for good. Hidden built-ins are listed under "Removed fields" on the Add a Measurement card, where clicking a field's chip restores it.
  • Removing a custom field deletes it outright.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I save my changes?

You don't — the Water Chemistry page auto-saves every change as you make it. There is no Save button.

Do custom measurements affect the LSI calculation?

No. LSI is computed automatically in the mobile completion flow from the built-in parameters. Custom measurements are stored on the reading and shown alongside it, but they don't feed the LSI.

I removed Salt by accident — can I get it back?

Yes. Removed built-in fields are listed under "Removed fields" on the Add a Measurement card — click the chip to restore one. Only custom fields are deleted permanently when removed.

What does the Step value do on a custom field?

It sets how much the +/- buttons on the mobile app change the value per tap (e.g. 0.5 for fine readings, 50 for larger ones), and the number of decimals shown is derived from it.
