Track Exactly the Chemistry You Test
Pool Founder now lets you decide which water chemistry fields your technicians must fill in on every test, which are optional, what default values they start with, and what order they appear in. Configure it once and every tech works through the same testing form your company actually cares about.
This update also adds Bromine (ppm) to the list of readings you can test and lets your chemical inventory hold fractional quantities, so a half-full container or a partial case is recorded exactly instead of rounded off.
Configure Your Chemistry Fields
Open Water Chemistry from the Customers section of the sidebar. You will see two cards: Required Fields, which technicians must fill in before they can finish a chemistry test, and Optional Fields, which are available but can be left blank. From here you control the required fields, defaults, and order of the whole testing form your techs use in the field.
- Mark each field required or optional with a toggle. A required field blocks the tech from completing the chemistry test until it has a value.
- Set a pre-filled default for any field, so a common starting value is already in place when the tech opens the reading.
- Drag to reorder fields within a card so the readings appear in the sequence your techs work through them.
Built-in readings include Free Chlorine, pH, Total Alkalinity, Combined Chlorine, Calcium Hardness, CYA (Stabilizer), Temperature, TDS, Salt, Phosphates, and Bromine. By default Free Chlorine, pH, Total Alkalinity, and Temperature are required, and the rest are optional, but every one of those choices is yours to change.
Changes apply to the technician app automatically. There is no per-route or per-customer setup: configure the form once and it flows to every tech on their next chemistry test.
Calcium Is Now Optional, Plus Bromine Testing
Calcium Hardness no longer has to be tested on every visit. It is now an optional field by default, which fits how most companies actually work: calcium hardness changes slowly and many techs check it periodically rather than weekly. If your company does want it on every test, flip it back to required in one click.
We also added Bromine (ppm) as a built-in reading. Companies servicing spas, hot tubs, or bromine-sanitized pools can now record bromine right in the chemistry test instead of forcing it into a chlorine field or a notes box. It shows up as an optional field by default, and you can drag it into the Required Fields card if bromine is what most of your accounts test.
Because Bromine and Calcium Hardness are configurable like every other field, you can leave them optional and techs will still fill them in on the pools and spas that need them, without extra required fields slowing down every other visit.
Fractional Chemical Quantities
Chemical inventory now accepts decimals. When you record a chemical purchase, remove stock, or set up a chemical, quantities accept values like 0.5, 1.5, or 2.25 instead of forcing a whole number. That keeps a half-full container or a partial case recorded exactly rather than rounded off.
Low-stock thresholds accept decimals too, so you can set a reorder point like 2.5 containers instead of rounding up or down to the nearest whole unit.

Where do I configure water chemistry fields?
