Show Techs Only What They Use
The job completion screen is where every visit gets logged, so a cluttered one slows your crew down. Pool Founder now lets you tailor that screen to how your company actually works: hide the sections you never touch, let each technician pick how tasks are displayed, and stop empty required readings from silently blocking completion.
If you bill parts through QuickBooks, do not track fill-water chemistry, or never use the extra photo section, there is no reason for your techs to scroll past those fields on every stop. These controls remove the noise.
Hide the Sections You Do Not Use
Company-level visibility toggles now control which sections appear on the mobile completion screen. Open Portal & App in your dashboard and find the Technician App card. Each toggle turns a section on or off for every technician, on every job:
- End-of-Job Photos - the general photo section at the bottom of the checklist. Per-task photos configured on your task templates still appear.
- Chemicals Used - manual chemical entry at the bottom of the checklist.
- Parts Used - replacement parts tracking. Hide it if you bill parts elsewhere.
- LSI Gauge - the Langelier Saturation Index gauge on water chemistry readings.
- Tasks Performed (Not Listed) - lets technicians record extra tasks that were not on the checklist.
- Tap Water Reference - the fill-water chemistry reference card on water chemistry readings.
These are company-wide settings. Turning a section off hides it for the whole team at once, so you do not have to configure anything per technician or per route.
Let Each Tech Pick Their Task View
Beyond the company-level toggles, each technician can choose how their task list is laid out. In the mobile app profile under Task View, there are three modes:
- Guided (Step-by-Step) - one task at a time, walking the tech through the visit.
- All Tasks (Scrollable) - the full checklist on a single scrollable screen.
- Compact (Dense Rows) - dense single-line task rows in template order.
The new compact mode groups consecutive simple tasks into one card and gives each water chemistry task its own card with a details disclosure. For an experienced tech who knows the route cold, it fits a whole visit on far less screen and cuts the scrolling. Because it is set on the profile, one tech can run compact while another sticks with the guided walkthrough on the same account.
Required Readings That Do Not Fail Silently
When a water chemistry reading is marked required on a task template, it now carries a red asterisk on the completion screen so techs can see up front which values they have to enter.
Previously, tapping Mark Complete with a required field still blank only surfaced an alert, which made it easy to miss which reading was the holdup. Now every empty required field turns red and shows an inline Required message asking for a value. If the field blocking completion is something like Salt at the bottom of a long list, the tech sees exactly where it is instead of guessing.
This does not change what is required. It only makes the missing field obvious the moment a tech tries to complete, so visits get logged correctly the first time.

Where do I turn completion-screen sections on or off?

Do these toggles change what customers see?
No. The Technician App toggles only affect the completion screen your technicians use in the field. What customers see in the portal is controlled separately by the Portal Visibility settings on the same page.
Is the compact task view a company-wide setting?
No. The task view mode is chosen per technician in the mobile app profile, under Task View. Each tech can run Guided, All Tasks (Scrollable), or Compact independently, so the choice is personal preference rather than a company policy.
What happens if a required chemistry reading is left blank?
The field shows a red asterisk, and when the tech taps Mark Complete with it still empty, the field turns red and displays an inline Required message. The tech cannot complete the visit until every required reading has a value.
