Stop Guessing When to Schedule Jobs
Scheduling a pool service job used to mean picking a day and hoping it works. Pool Founder's new scheduling calendar replaces the old dialog-based workflow with a full-page visual experience. You see a six-week calendar grid with real-time route impact data for every day, so you know exactly how adding a stop will affect drive time, mileage, and technician workload before you commit.
Route Impact Data on Every Day
Each day on the calendar shows key metrics for the selected technician: how many miles the new stop would add, the estimated additional drive time, the projected end time for the route, the current stop count, and how the day compares to the technician's configured max hours. Days that would overload a technician are visually flagged so you can spot problems before they happen.
The data is calculated using actual route geography, not estimates. Pool Founder looks at where the new service location sits relative to the technician's existing stops for that day and calculates the real impact of inserting it into the route.
Smart Suggestions
The scheduling calendar recommends the best technician and day combinations based on geographic proximity. When you open the scheduler, you see suggestion cards ranked by how close the new job is to each technician's existing route stops. Pick a suggestion to auto-select the technician and highlight their best days on the calendar.
For work orders, the system goes further: it suggests specific dates within the next 30 days based on which days the technician already has nearby stops, minimizing dead mileage.
Multi-Technician Selection
Need to assign a job to multiple technicians or compare options? The calendar supports selecting multiple technicians simultaneously. Each technician is color-coded, and the calendar grid updates to show route impact data for whichever technician is active. Switch between technicians to compare how the job fits into each one's schedule.
Unified Scheduling Workflow
The scheduling calendar handles all job types in one place:
- Maintenance jobs: Select days of the week and frequency (weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually)
- Work orders: Pick specific dates from the calendar with suggested dates highlighted
- Job transfers: Move a single visit or permanently reassign a job to a different technician, with the calendar showing the impact on both the source and destination routes
You can also reach the scheduling calendar directly from job creation. The new "Create & Schedule" button creates the job and immediately opens the scheduler so you can assign it to a route in one step.
Route Suggestions on Job Creation
When creating a new maintenance job, Pool Founder now shows suggested routes based on the service location's proximity to existing routes. You can select a suggested route to immediately add the job, or proceed to the full scheduling calendar for more control.
After adding a job to a suggested route, an "Optimize route" action appears in the confirmation toast. Click it to re-optimize the stop order for the route with the new job included.

Does the scheduling calendar replace the old scheduling dialogs?
Yes. The scheduling calendar is a full-page experience that replaces the previous modal dialogs for scheduling maintenance jobs and work orders. All scheduling and single-job transfer actions now go through the calendar.
Can I still do bulk job transfers between technicians?
Yes. Bulk transfers between routes and technicians still use the dedicated transfer page accessible from the route view. The scheduling calendar handles single-job scheduling and transfers only.
How accurate is the route impact data?
Route impact metrics are calculated using the actual geographic coordinates of service locations and existing route stops. Mileage and drive time estimates reflect real distances, not straight-line approximations.
What frequencies are supported for maintenance job scheduling?
Maintenance jobs can be scheduled at weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual frequencies. The calendar adjusts its display to show the correct recurrence pattern for each frequency.
