From Customer Request to Paid Invoice — Fully Connected
Pool Founder now connects the entire lifecycle of a service engagement. When a customer sends a service request, you can create a quote directly from the conversation. When that quote becomes a job and the job generates an invoice, every step is linked and logged. You always know the full history of how a piece of work originated and where the money ended up.
Create Quotes from Service Requests
When reviewing a service request in your inbox, a new "Create Quote" option appears in the action menu. Clicking it opens the quote creation form pre-filled with the customer's service location, the request subject as the quote name, and the customer's description as the quote notes. No copy-pasting between screens.
Once a quote is linked to a service request, the conversation thread shows a banner with the quote status and a direct link to the quote. The "Create Job" option is hidden to prevent duplicate work when a quote is already in progress.
Automatic Audit Trail on Quotes
The quote timeline now logs key events automatically:
- Job linked: When a quote is converted to a job, the event is recorded with the job name
- Invoice created: When an invoice is generated for the linked job, the quote timeline captures it
- Invoice paid: When the customer pays the invoice, the payment is logged on the quote
This gives you a single view of the entire engagement without switching between the quote, job, and invoice pages.
Linked Quote Banners
When a job was created from a quote, the job detail page shows a "Linked Quote" banner with the quote name and number, linking directly to the quote. The same banner appears on invoice detail pages when the invoice was generated from a quote-originated job.
These cross-links make it easy to trace work back to its origin from any point in the chain: service request, quote, job, or invoice.
Service Request Updates
When a job is created from a quote that originated from a service request, the service request conversation automatically receives a system message: "Job created: [job name]". The service request also stores a reference to the linked job so you can navigate to it directly.
The full chain works like this: Service Request → Quote → Job → Invoice. Each link is bidirectional, so you can navigate forwards and backwards through the entire lifecycle.

Can I still create jobs directly without a quote?
Yes. Quotes are optional. You can create jobs directly from the jobs page, from a service request, or from the route builder. The linking feature only activates when a job originates from a quote.
What happens to the audit trail if I delete a quote?
Audit trail entries are permanent. If a quote is deleted, the job and invoice retain their records and the audit log entries remain on the quote timeline.
Can I create multiple jobs from one quote?
Currently, a quote links to one job. If a quote involves multiple jobs, create the primary job from the quote and create additional jobs separately.
