July Quality-of-Life Roundup: Small Changes, Big Daily Difference

A roundup of July quality-of-life updates in Pool Founder: quick-add contacts, Create & Schedule for work orders, Copy Payment Link buttons, pool volume while dosing, and more.

The Little Things You Touch Every Day

Not every update is a brand-new feature. This month we sanded down rough edges on the screens you already touch dozens of times a day: creating work orders, sending invoices, dosing at the pool, and closing out billing. Here is what changed.

Faster Work Orders, Fewer Detours

You no longer have to set up a full customer record before you can write a work order. In the work order builder, open the Service Location dropdown and choose Quick add contact. Give it an email or phone number and the service address (a name is optional) and Pool Founder creates the customer and service location so invoicing, emails, and routes keep working. If the email or phone already matches an existing customer, it reuses that record instead of making a duplicate.

Once the work order is filled in, the Create & Schedule button creates the job and opens the scheduler in one step, so you can drop it onto a route and assign a technician without a second trip through the menus. In the technician app, it opens a schedule sheet with a technician picker, an inline calendar, and a preview of the stops that tech already has for the day.

Applying a work order template on the web now loads the template’s tasks too, with each task’s required and frequency settings, alongside the line items, discounts, notes, and deposit that already came over. Mobile already did this, so the two are back in sync.

Invoices That Get You Paid

Opening an invoice from a customer or job page used to strand you: the back button always dumped you on the full invoices list. Now it returns to where you came from. Open an invoice from a customer and the button reads Back to Customer; open it from the invoices list and it reads Back to Invoices.

We also added Copy Payment Link buttons in three spots: on the invoice detail next to View Pay Page, as a link icon on each invoice row on a customer page, and on the work order’s invoice card. Each copies that invoice’s pay-page URL to paste into a text or email.

Pool Volume, Right Where You Dose

Technicians asked to see how much water they are treating without leaving the completion screen. The completion flow in the technician app now shows a chip with the body of water’s name and volume, for example “Main Pool · 15,000 gal,” at the top of the water chemistry reading section and again in the Chemicals Used section. On jobs with several bodies of water, the chip follows the one you are working on.

The chip only appears when the body of water has a gallonage on file. Set or fix a pool’s volume from the customer’s service location page on the web dashboard, under Bodies of Water.

Cleaner Billing and a Smoother Start

Completed work orders billed some other way, such as a charge rolled into a monthly invoice, used to sit in the Work Order Billing list and its sidebar badge forever. You can now Mark as Billed from the Work Order Billing row or straight from the work order page, right next to Create Invoice. That clears it from the uninvoiced count, and you can undo it from the Marked as Billed banner on the job.

New accounts get a redesigned guided setup. It walks through Customers, your team, Jobs, and Routes as separate steps built for bulk entry, with customer imports handled inline. Every step is its own page, so reloading keeps your place.

Finally, the Billing card in Account Settings is no longer a placeholder. It shows the card Pool Founder charges for your subscription and gives you an Update Card button to swap it yourself whenever your card changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create a work order for a brand-new customer?

In the work order builder, open the Service Location dropdown and choose Quick add contact. Enter an email or phone number and the service address; a name is optional. Pool Founder creates the customer and service location so you can finish the work order, and it reuses an existing customer if the email or phone already matches one.

Where do the Copy Payment Link buttons appear?

On the invoice detail next to View Pay Page, as a link icon on each invoice row on a customer page, and on the work order’s invoice card. Each copies that invoice’s payment page URL to paste into a text or email.

Why don’t I see the pool volume chip on some jobs?

The chip only shows when the body of water has a gallonage on file. Set the volume from the customer’s service location page on the web dashboard, in the Bodies of Water section, and it appears on the technician completion screen.
