Checklists That Match How You Actually Work
Two upgrades to Pool Founder's task management system: drag-and-drop reordering so you can arrange job checklists in the exact order your technicians should follow, and optional tasks so you can distinguish between must-do and nice-to-have steps on every visit.
Drag-and-Drop Task Reordering
Job task lists can now be reordered by dragging and dropping on desktop. On mobile devices, up and down arrow buttons appear next to each task for easy reordering with one hand. The new order is saved immediately and reflected everywhere the task list appears: the admin dashboard, the technician mobile app, and service reports.
This matters because task order often reflects a logical sequence. Brushing walls before vacuuming the floor, testing water chemistry before adding chemicals, or backwashing the filter before checking the pressure gauge. When the checklist matches the real workflow, technicians move through stops faster and skip fewer steps.
Optional Tasks
Tasks can now be marked as optional when creating or editing a job. Optional tasks appear on the technician's checklist but are clearly labeled so they know these steps can be skipped without flagging an incomplete job.
This is useful for tasks that only need to happen periodically or under certain conditions: emptying the pump basket, cleaning the salt cell, or checking the heater. Required tasks must be completed (or explicitly skipped with a reason) before a job can be marked done.
How It Works Together
Combine both features for maximum efficiency. Put required tasks at the top of the list in the order they should be performed, then add optional tasks at the bottom. Technicians see a clear, prioritized checklist on every stop and can work through it top to bottom without guessing what matters most.
Task order and optional/required status are set per job, so you can customize the checklist for each customer based on their pool equipment and service agreement.

Can technicians reorder tasks on their mobile app?
Technicians can see the ordered task list but cannot change the order. Only admins and owners can reorder tasks from the dashboard. Technicians use the up/down buttons to navigate but the order is set by the admin.
What happens if a technician skips a required task?
Required tasks must be completed or explicitly skipped with a reason before the job can be marked done. Optional tasks can be left unchecked without providing a reason.
Does task order affect service reports?
Yes. Service reports sent to customers list completed tasks in the order you set, so the report reads logically.
